CEMENT LOADING -------------- In consideration of Owners agreeing to permit Charterers to carry cargo of cement, the following terms are agreed: Owners will instruct Master to take all necessary and prudent measures to ensure that diligent procedures are used to protect any exposed machinery and to close off ventilation to enclosed spaces in order to minimise any dust pollution or contamination. It is understood and agreed that Charterers have option to load bulk cement on following conditions: 1) Bilge wells to be closed/protected and sealed to Master's satisfaction in order to avoid any cargo or wash water ingress in wells and/or suction pipes. 2) Vessel is fitted with cement holes on hatch covers. CEMENT ONLY PERMITTED LOADING VIA CEMENT HOLES.(vsl has cement holes) Cement holes to be opened/closed with new gasket at Charterer's time and expense. After closing, hose test to be carried out to Master's satisfaction. Cement/Clinkers to be loaded only through cement holes on the hatch covers, with the covers always in closed position. Discharge to take place only through vacuum unloaders. Grab discharge NOT permitted. 3) Charterers to be responsible and to pay for thorough cleaning up of all cargo residues from holds, removal/disposal of residues, and washing down/pumping out of wash water by means other than the ship's lines/pumps, of all holds by fresh water, immediately after discharge, at their time. 4) Charterers to indemnify Owners against all possible cargo solidification in the cargo holds or other ship's parts, due to sweating, insufficient cleaning or any other reason. 5) Cement not to be loaded in hot condition. Maximum temperature during loading not to exceed 75 Deg. C. Charterers to be responsible and to indemnify Owners for damages which may occur to the cargo holds coating as a result of hot cargo. 6) Any damages due to the carriage of cement that affects the vessel's seaworthiness/cargo worthiness (as regards the vessel's ability to carry sensitive cargoes) to be corrected prior to the vessel sailing from the discharge port at Charterer's time and expense. 7) CEMENT NOT TO BE LAST CARGO CARRIED. |
