INTRODUCTION |

The
port of Mokpo in the southwestern corner of the Korean peninsula, is a
well sheltered port of deep water anchorage, provides a good break from
heavy seas.
There is an overhead cable at Mokpo-Gu channel, measures about 50m high
from water level (restriction).

2)
TIDES AND CURRENTS |
|
There
are weak tidal currents, because of HAGUEON-DAM (across the lower
Young-San River), up to nearly 5 knots, in the approach channels.

3)
PILOTAGE |
|
The
pilot station is in 34°27′30″N / 126°04′10″E off Kasa-Do island or in
34°45′N / 126°14′E off Bulmugi-Do.
Two
pilots serves day and night and pilot is not compulsory, but advisable
owing to inlet current and shoal point at Talipakji area. 24 hours
prior notice should be given to local agent to make arrangements for
pilots to meet the vessel. If ETA changes more than 6 hours, it should
be reported again.

QUARANTINE |
|
Quarantine anchorage located in the 34°45′28″N /
126°20′35″E and water depth about 16-23m.

VHF |
|
Pilots on channels 12 and 16.
Port control on channels 16 and 14.
|
6)
ANCHORAGE |
|
INNER ANCHORAGE
There
are total nine anchorages in the inner harbour and vessels of 50,000
DWT, LOA 230m and Deepest draft 12.4m can be accommodated in the inner
anchorage.
From no.1 to no.9 : for 10,000 to 30,000 G/T (depth about 18.9m)
OUTER ANCHORAGE
There are total two anchorages in the outer harbour.
From no.10 to no.11 : for ocean-going vessels (depth about 18-24m)

7)
SHORE CRANE |

20-250tons
of cranes are available by agents through local crane operators but
250tons of crane can be used at Daebul Pier only.

8)
BUNKERING |
|
here
is no bunker suppliers/facilities. Therefore, bunker (if requested)
should be supplied by lightering from Port of Pusan or Yeosu.
